　　故事以1983年八字桥畔的初遇为起点，讲述建筑师吴曼曼与丈夫徐定伟用四十年光阴，亲历越州从古建保护到有机更新的壮阔历程，呈现了古城“修旧如旧”的保护理念。老戏骨许还山饰演的匠心建筑师，正是无数越城文脉守护者的缩影。这四十年光阴，既是两人爱情的淬炼，亦是越州在古城保护与新城建设中蝶变的见证。
